My Journey Comes Full Circle

In 2019 I was 26 and had been working as a NetSuite consultant for 3 years. I was a good developer but like most, I constantly felt underpaid and overlooked for promotion.

I discovered "self-improvement and money Twitter" and convinced myself I needed to quit my job and pursue my passion. Telling people you're an entrepreneur is much more impressive than "I help companies set up their business software".

I was obsessed with goals like "Make a million dollars" and "Start a business". But I ultimately spent the next 5 years jumping from job to job (4 in total), trying to "find myself".

Today, at the ripe old age of 31, I'm back working as a NetSuite consultant. It's a really odd feeling to come back to where you started, like getting a second chance with the accumulated knowledge of what didn't work the first time.

I'd say the difference is, I don't think of this as a permanent career, I view it as a temporary way to fill the gap, which will ultimately make me a much better consultant.
