Consistency is the Key
I think a lot of people would do better to focus on consistency rather than intensity. It's something that you learn with experience, because on the outset, intensity seems like the better choice.
But over time you'll come to see that showing up everyday, focusing on the process and slowly getting better will get you to your goals.
If you're like me, it's easy to be all-in on a project for 2 weeks, then as soon as you hit a wall, your motivation drops dramatically. Then after a break and finding that inspiration again, it's another 2 week stint.
But look back over a 6 month period and you can see that overall your progress is pretty slow. Compare that with someone following a process, pushing through the lack of motivation and building gradually.
I think it's called falling in love with the process, accepting that actually it's the best way to get the results you're looking for.
At the end of the day, it's what you're doing on a regular basis that counts, not just the bursts of high intensity creativity.
